HOUSTON, TX – September 24, 2018 – Hotel Alessandra, the year-old, downtown Houston flagship of a new brand from Houston-based operator and developer team, Valencia Group and Midway, has won Five-Star Best Hotel Interior Texas at the International Property Awards’ USA Property Awards regional competition. The honor was presented on September 20 in Toronto at a special reception during the IPAX USA & Americas global exhibition. One of four regional nominees for Best Hotel Interior USA, Hotel Alessandra will progress to the international awards with World’s Best winners selected in London on December 3.
Additionally, Hotel Alessandra was also named a finalist for the SBID International Design Awards in the Hotel Public Space Design category. Submissions in 14 categories were received from over 40 countries, and Hotel Alessandra will now compete against 20 other hospitality projects for the top spot. The winners will be announced on October 26 at an awards ceremony in London.
The USA Property Awards are the largest, most prestigious, and widely recognized program of their kind, and winners are selected based on factors including design, quality, service, innovation, originality and commitment to sustainability. Judging is determined by an independent panel of 80 industry experts, led by Lord Caithness, Lord Best, The Earl of Liverpool, and Lord Thurso, members of the House of Lords in the UK Parliament.
Marking its 25th anniversary, the International Property Awards cover over 45 different residential and commercial categories. Open to residential and commercial property professionals from around the globe, they celebrate the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry. Regional awards are staged for Arabia, Europe, Africa, Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean, USA, UK and Asia Pacific. In addition to Toronto, celebrations are held globally in Bangkok, Dubai and London during the course of the year.
SBID International Design Awards judges include Carlo Camillo, Global Director of Store Design and Visual Merchandising at Christian Louboutin; Stefan Sielaff, Director of Design and Mulliner Coachbuilding, Bentley Motors Ltd; and Kevin Mau, Senior Creative Director at The Boeing Company to name a few.
Designed by the San Francisco office of Gensler, Hotel Alessandra showcases interiors by internationally acclaimed Rottet Studio, whose recent work includes Valencia Group’s Hotel Valencia Riverwalk renovation in San Antonio and their newly debuted Cavalry Court hotel in Midway’s Century Square College Station, TX development. This is the first ground up Houston hotel commission for the firm, which is headquartered a few blocks from the property.
